Adomas Rybakovas Lithuanian, b. 2021

Overview

Adomas Rybakovas (b. 2001), an artist of the younger generation. After graduating from the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts, he took up the VDA's degree programme in painting at VDA in 2019. In 2021 - 2022 Adomas Rybakovas studied at the State Academy of Arts in Stuttgart. Since then, the artist has been participating in group exhibitions in Lithuania and Germany. In 2022 he won the Zabolis Art Prize and entered the final round of the XIV Young Painter Prize.

Adomas Rybakovas collects images from the internet and other sources of information. He edits, cuts, manipulates and combines this material with his collected images from everyday life. Adomas Rybakovas is interested in the theories of crowd psychology, neo-tribal experience, alexithymia and public opinion. The artist searches for a balance between aggression and pleasure, investigates the causes of impulsive, borderline human behaviour, the motives of desires and the need for alternative, perhaps even ecstatic states. Adomas compares all this with his personal experiences. In his paintings, the artist experiments with the possibilities of the medium to physically influence the viewer.
