Paulius Stanikas (b. 1962, Lithuania) also lives between Paris and Vilnius. In 1985 he graduated from Vilnius University obtaining a degree in economics. Since 1991 Paulius is a member of Lithuanian Artists’ Association and as of 2004 he is a member of Lithuanian Photographers’ Association. The duo's work is often described as controversial - it is abundant of themes like eroticism, death, aggression, through which allegorical, associative stories are told. Artists began their creative journey by making sculptures, and over time started combining them with drawings and photographs, in which they often pose, thus creating a greater effect - causing shock, psychological discomfort to the viewer. SetP Stanikas are participating in shows since 1988 and are one of the most active Lithuanian artists, their creative collaboration spanning for more than three decades. They have represented Lithuania in the world's most prestigious exhibitions and projects, like international Venice, Liverpool, Moscow and Beijing Biennales, the Pompidou center and world renowned galleries such as “Vu” in Paris and “White Box“ gallery in New York. After success in Venice Biennale, SetP Stanikas were invited to lecture in prestigious French contemporary art school Studio national des arts contemporains.
Svajone was born in 1961, Paulius in 1962 in Vilnius, Lithuania
