Laurynas Skeisgiela Lithuanian, b. 1994
He is the co-founder of the meeting space “Lokomotif” in Lentvaris, Lithuania. Through this long-term project, its curators operate as an alternative cultural organism within the town, questioning, revisiting, and reimagining its identity.
In recent years, together with film editor Anne Hovad Fisher, he has been working on a documentary exploring the complex and paradoxical context behind the making of the acclaimed Lithuanian pavilion Sun and Sea (Marina), presented at the Venice Biennale 2019.
While filmmaking and curating form a space of collaboration, his individual artistic practice most often takes the form of video and light installations, currently focusing on themes of mimicry across the fields of nature and culture.
