Artscape is a continuing interdisciplinary project launched in 2009 when Vilnius was the European Capital of Culture. It began as a joint event organised by three organisations – Galerija VARTAI, Kino Pavasaris and the Vilnius Jazz Festival – promoting the 21st century art scene from different European countries.

The three different media – art, cinema and music – outlines the diagrams of dynamic cultural processes, while interdisciplinary presentation of each country appeals to a multitude of different social groups. Artscape aims to reveal the new panorama of the European contemporary culture, the mutual influences and transgression of cultural identities.

The Artscape contemporary art programme hosted by Galerija VARTAI  introduced unique solo projects of established artists from different European countries paired with Lithuanian authors. In 2012, the series of Artscape shows was expanded and welcomed artists from across the globe. From 2009 till 2014 a total of 48 Lithuanian and foreign artists participated in the project.
