For her exhibition at Kunstraum München, Neringa Vasiliauskaitė presents “Repetitions & Rituals,” a series of multi-layered, site-specific works that explore the intersection of personal and cultural memory. One standout piece in this series features large and small-format objects crafted from printed textiles laid over padded backgrounds, coated in glossy epoxy resin, and accented with wooden elements.

This work challenges the viewer's perception by blurring the boundaries between inside and outside, solid and fluid, soft and hard. The shiny, reflective surfaces evoke the texture of leather upholstery or even human skin, inviting a tactile engagement while prompting a deeper reflection on the transformation of materials and time.

Vasiliauskaitė’s innovative use of materials—where solid surfaces appear fluid, and soft ones harden—opens a dialogue between materiality and memory. These transformations echo the fluid nature of personal and cultural experiences, revealing the layers of memory and meaning embedded within the work. Through this process, she invites viewers to reflect on how these layers shape our understanding of the past and present.

“Repetitions & Rituals” serves as a meditation on the delicate boundary between past and present, offering a new sensibility for understanding physicality and memory through the lens of cultural continuity and subjective experience.

Combining various shapes and materials such as coated glass, steel and printing on different surfaces, her work often moves between interior and inner worlds, using everyday motifs to explore connections to memories, nostalgia and illusions of other times and spaces.
