Fluxus transformed not only what an artwork could be, but also how it could circulate. From the early 1960s onwards, artists associated with the movement embraced editions as a central artistic form, producing prints, multiples, publications, objects, garments, and performance scores intended to exist in many copies rather than as singular works. For George Maciunas, Fluxus's founder, multiplication was never a compromise but a principle: an artwork's value resided in its ideas, not in its scarcity.
The works presented here reflect that conviction. Conceived to be handled, shared, collected, and lived with, they blur the boundaries between artwork and everyday object while challenging conventional ideas of authorship, originality, and ownership. Whether taking the form of publications, prints, objects, garments, or multiples, these editions demonstrate the remarkable breadth of Fluxus practice and continue to shape the way contemporary art is produced, circulated, and experienced.
Many of the works originate from Edizioni Conz, the publishing project established by the Italian collector and publisher Francesco Conz (1935–2010). Working directly with Fluxus artists, as well as figures associated with Concrete Poetry and Lettrism, Conz commissioned editions over several decades, creating one of the most significant bodies of artist publications and multiples of the post-war period. Today, the collection is preserved and expanded by Archivio Conz in Berlin, whose ongoing research, conservation, exhibitions, and publications continue to position the archive as a living part of contemporary cultural discourse.
