Lucky Coin 05 & 06 are part of an ongoing body of work examining rituals embedded in public
space. The works take as their point of departure the widespread practice of throwing coins
into fountains—a collective gesture through which personal wishes become part of a shared
cultural ritual.
Based on a photograph of a fountain near Karlsplatz (Stachus) in Munich, the image is
repeatedly printed onto the same sheet of Hahnemühle paper. Each successive print is
slightly reduced in scale, creating subtle displacements and layers that suggest accumulation,
repetition, and the passage of time.
Mounted behind mouth-blown glass and framed by folded metal elements inspired by
vernacular urban architecture, the works occupy a space between image and object,
reflection and projection, private desire and collective belief.
