Liucija Pačkauskaitė Lithuanian, b. 1999
Liucija Pačkauskaitė paints from memory, allowing ordinary places to expand beyond observation into something quietly mythic.
Liucija Pačkauskaitė is a Lithuanian painter whose work explores the shifting relationship between memory and observation. Working from landscapes, plants, animals, and everyday places drawn from personal experience, she investigates how recollection gradually transforms the ordinary into something imagined.
Rather than reconstructing remembered scenes, Pačkauskaitė embraces the quiet distortions through which memory enlarges, softens, or rearranges experience. Familiar landscapes become subtly estranged, while commonplace objects acquire an almost symbolic presence. Her paintings move between autobiography and visual fiction, reflecting on how memory continues to reshape the places we believe we know.
Based in Vilnius, Liucija Pačkauskaitė completed both her BA and MA in Painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Her recent solo exhibitions include Ties kriokliais (2024) and Švinta (2023), and alongside her artistic practice she has co-curated exhibitions including Ruja (2023) and Žarija (2024). Liucija
