Video installation at 42 St–8 Ave Subway Station

Vytenis Jankūnas’ video installation J 2 Manhattan – The Eternal Traveler Syndrome in a Circular Motion (2017–2026) is currently presented by WhiteBox Portable within the 42 St–8 Ave Subway Station in New York City.

Installed across six interconnected screens, the work transforms the infrastructural rhythm of New York’s subway into a continuous perceptual loop. Trains arrive and depart endlessly, constructing a circular field of motion that places the viewer within the logic of perpetual transit.

Simultaneously architectural, cinematic, and sculptural, the installation reflects on repetition, circulation, urban temporality, and the psychological condition of movement within the contemporary metropolis.
