Geistė Marija Kinčinaitytė: The Rocks Are Slippery

16 May - 29 June | Museum of Photography | Šiauliai, Lithuania
Galerija VARTAI is pleased to share news of The rocks are slippery — the latest solo exhibition by artist and researcher Geistė Marija Kinčinaitytė, currently on view at the Photography Museum in Šiauliai. This exhibition is conceptually linked to her ongoing solo show at Galerija VARTAI. Across both exhibitions, dark visions of scorched Earth intertwine with lunar landscapes drawn from NASA archives. The artist weaves analogies between hostile earthly terrains and the relief of the Moon — between solidified strands of volcanic lava and meteorite craters, ash-covered melting glaciers and the restless enigma veiled beneath layers of cosmic dust.

The rocks are slippery is on view at the Photography Museum in Šiauliai until 29th of June, 2025. On 4th of June, at 5:30 PM, Geistė Marija Kinčinaitytė’s monograph titled Sunless Seas of Ice will be presented in the exhibition space of The rocks are slippery at the Photography Museum. Click this link for more information.
