Biographic Disobedience witnesses a fictional Saint’s testimony based on the writings by St. Thecla, Hildegard of Bingen, Theresa of Avilla, Catherine of Siena – mystics and martyrs from various historical periods who lived under Christian patriarchy, yet practised forms of disobedience. They became famous for the descriptions of their excessive, often eroticised religious experiences. Biographic Disobedience was filmed at Kunsthal Gent – a contemporary art space established in a 14th-century Carmelite monastery.
It was produced in collaboration with performer Caterina Mora, editor Rui Calvo, sound artist Adomas Palekas, and curator Valerio Del Baglivo.
