Révérences stems from a rational yet intimate and non-linear exploration of found waste materials, transforming them through modern design language into new functional roles. The essence of this collection hinges on blending two distinct methods: autobiographical self-reflection and examining found materials in context. Through this approach, the author seamlessly navigates between personal and cultural perspectives, subjective feelings, and objective analysis. The process culminates in a deep connection with the materials, where the intricate and diverse worlds of the creator's and the object's consciousness merge, offering a fresh approach to creation. This approach encourages examining locally sourced waste, yet sustainability in this project is upheld without the lofty promise of saving the world. The primary focus is on the contextual value of the materials, deconstructing their history and narratives, while fostering emotional and sentimental connections between the material and the designer, and ultimately the user of the created object. In this sense, the designer is addressing contemporary issues by thinking globally but acting locally. This self-imposed obligation reflects the author's aspiration for a responsible act of designing for the future, of which the author is an integral part.
Révérences pendant lamps
Combination of author's autobiographical self-reflection and examination of found materials dictated the chosen wrapping gesture. As a result of that, the duo of glass, and bronze became a silent homage (French: révérence), framing the multi-layered narratives of the people who shaped them, honoring their lives and work. These glass negatives, wrapped around ceramic tubes, present the collective past of those individuals.
