The bench 'Closely Linked' is the product of thinking through intermediate forms. The object conceptualises the experience and reflects one of the formative processes of closeness in the design process – tension, conveyed through solid alder wood. The overall form emphasises the contrast between the sharp angles and the soft sidelines, exposing the tension between the pre-designed structure and the intuitive shaping that emerges in the process. The fragmented parts of the bench's form reveal hints of tension through the way the elements connect – either in close contact or slightly spaced apart.
