Marija Puipaitė Lithuanian, b. 1987

Overview
Marija Puipaitė is a Lithuanian designer living and working in Vilnius. She received a BA of Arts in Product design from Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2010 and completed her MA in the Contextual Design at Design Academy Eindhoven in 2014, later obtained her Ph.D. in Design at Vilnius Academy of Arts. Her research field is the perception of the human body with the rise of scientific anatomy practice in Early Modern Europe. Marija Puipaitė uses the human body as a starting point for her designs. Whether furniture or jewelry, her
designs always possess an intimate, organic connection with their user, aiming to provide a sensual experience. Marija views the design process as a ritual where all contributing factors and coincidences aect the result. Marija is a mentor at the Vilnius Academy of Arts Design Department, works as a product designer, curates design exhibitions. Vartai gallery represents their works.
