Marija Puipaitė and Vytautas Gečas at Paris Design week

with COLLECTIBLE Curates
We are very happy to announce that Vartai gallery will participate at this year's Paris Design Week representing designers Marija Puipaitė and Vytautas Gečas.

Furniture objects from series "Envisined comfort" will be presented on 3th - 8th of September at the exposition hall "Espace Commines" on "Collectible curates" booth.

It’s a series of objects based on the construction which allows to form a broad variety of shapes. The more elements you have - the more detailed curves you can get. Therefore, this construction can be applied to almost any furniture you imagine. On one hand, it’s a complex object with lots of elements. On the other hand, not alike other soft furniture - these are completely honest and openly showing the way they are built. The rhythmical construction allows admiring carefully crafted elements - the beech wood joints and the brass fittings. By merging two different design practices Marija Puipaitė (organic, human body based shapes) and Vytautas Gečas (complexity, fragmentation, and layering) found a common point where the construction defines and forms a fluid shape into an ergonomic entity.

Marija Puipaitė and Vytautas Gečas are Lithuanian designers based in Vilnius. Both studied BA Product design Design for their Bachelor’s degrees at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and completed their Master’s degree in Contextual Design at the Design Academy Eindhoven (2014, 2013). At the moment they are both PhD students at the Vilnius Academy of Arts.
