Indrė Šerpytytė (b. 1983, Lithuania) is known for her evocative explorations of memory, trauma, and cultural identity. Educated at the University of Brighton and the Royal College of Art in London, her work spans photography, sculpture, and mixed media, and has been shown internationally at institutions like Tate Modern, the Museum of Modern Art (New York), and the Imperial War Museum (London). She represented Lithuania at the São Paulo Biennial and was featured in the Phaidon publication Vitamin T.

The Bright Light of Moondust (2019) is part of her series From.Between.To, in which Šerpytytė layers traditional Baltic sashes on canvas to explore how cultural symbols can create a universal language. By using these sashes unaltered, she bridges regional heritage with the principles of Modernist abstraction, turning them into contemporary visual statements that speak to shared histories of conflict and resilience.
