Linas Jusionis (b. 1986, Lithuania) has been a significant presence in the contemporary Lithuanian art scene for over a decade, known for his minimalist approach to imagery and strong visual consistency. His latest series, Stacks, Plants, and Plains, evokes a cinematic, road-trip mood, where unconnected landscapes without clear meaning merge into a sequence of seemingly random, yet aesthetically cohesive images. Recurring motifs such as stacks and plains create a sense of nostalgic longing, acting as visual tropes that signify desire while remaining elusive and mysterious.
In these works, Jusionis explores the tension between pure visuality and interpretive duality. His paintings balance between presenting vivid, almost narrative scenes, while intentionally withholding meaning, allowing viewers to experience the images as both direct and ambiguous. The artist’s refined color transitions and carefully constructed spaces encourage an immersive visual experience, inviting viewers to engage in an almost voyeuristic interplay of observing and being observed. Jusionis’s mastery of minimalism is evident in the way he juxtaposes abstract simplicity with intricate visual tricks that captivate the viewer’s imagination.
Jusionis earned his BA and MA in Monumental Arts (Fresco-Mosaic) from the Vilnius Academy of Arts and has participated in solo and group exhibitions since 2009. His works are featured in prestigious collections such as MO Museum and the Lewben Art Foundation. With this new body of work, Jusionis reaffirms his ability to blend intellectual depth with sensory pleasure, continuing to provoke and engage viewers through the sheer beauty of visual form.
