The Buoy chair is a product from the Hypothesis Collection of Enrichers. Its a chair that facilitates movement while being at work. The sphere-shaped-base makes sure you need to balance, use your lower body to keep seated. It aims to trigger the motor area of the brain, facilitating enrichment, therefore contributing to wellbeing at work.
Its designed by the Design Team Enrichers, consisting the following designers:
Aliki van der Kruijs - soft architecture
Alissa van Asseldonk - design research
Govert Flint - applied motions
Govert Geerts - prototyping
Luuk van den Broek - materialization
Nienke Bongers - tactile patterns
For creating the Buoy chair, Luuk van den Broek had the lead for the art direction and the design. Govert Geerts took the lead in the prototyping and production. Govert Flint initiated the concept for a moving seat, participated with the prototyping and guided the design process. Tiddo Bakker came with the crucial intel to use the bowl.
The Buoy design is an outcome of the study trip we made with the entire team to University of Cambridge. Professor neurobiology Jenny Morton provided us a masterclass on applying environmental enrichment to the working space. This trip was funded by Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie.
