Martynas Gailiušas Lithuanian, b. 1992
Martynas Gailiušas (b. 1992) is a designer and artist based in Vilnius, Lithuania. His practice is shaped by years of experience in engineering, prop making, and hands-on as well as digital fabrication. He explores the narratives and structures behind socio-political phenomena and the material culture that surrounds us. Through installation, film, and object-making, he investigates the current state of the world, drawing inspiration from industrial production, sports, critical theory, political philosophy, folklore, and history. His work is often guided by autoethnographic research and intuitive making methods. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Product Design from the University of Bradford and a master’s in Contextual Design from the Design Academy Eindhoven. Alongside his practice, he works as a guest tutor at Vilnius Academy of Arts.
