Les Origines SetP Stanikas | PARIS, FRANCE

12 SEPTEMBER - 12 DECEMBER

Les Origines

"Origin" is a solo exhibition by Svajonė and Paulius Stanikas, which will both launch and frame the program of the Lithuanian Culture Season in France. The aim of the exhibition is to establish a dialogue with Lithuania’s historical memory and the cultural and diplomatic legacy of Lithuanian émigrés in France. It is no coincidence that the Lithuanian Embassy in Paris was chosen as the venue for such an exhibition. The embassy, located near Parc Monceau in a *hôtel particulier* (private city mansion) at 22 Boulevard de Courcelles, has interiors decorated by artists Maurice Denis and Odilon Redon. In the 19th century, this mansion was the first residence of composer Ernest Chausson in Paris. Although this building only became an embassy in 1999, its walls are steeped in Lithuanian spirit, having absorbed not only the challenges and achievements of independent Lithuania but also the stories passed down through generations, embodying the spirit of the cultural and diplomatic diaspora of Lithuania.
