Etienne Marc is a french designer, craftsman born in Amiens. He studied product design in Reims and Contextual Design in the Design Academy of Eindhoven where he started to develop a hands-on practice and a deep interest in materials and their mediated meanings, using design as a tool to champion a space for enjoyment through symbolism. Etienne Marc produces objects that bring trickery, spectacle, and humor. His use of materials borrowed from traditional art mixed with ones that refer to the physical reality of our time play with our expectations and challenge traditional meanings and values, aiming to question or even uplift the notion of the replica. Etienne Marc lives and works between France and Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
